I know it's weird to praise a tablet for being "almost as good" as an iPad, but if you've ever used an iPad for digital art, you know that's a high bar. And with the app Infinity Painter, this tablet is extremely close to an iPad with Procreate. So close that I usually don't notice the difference. That is a very good thing. Minimal input lag (and I hate input lag), very accurate, very comfortable stylus with tilt and pressure sensitivity, and decent tilt/pressure curves out of the box. The tilt is better than the pressure, but the pressure is still good enough.
Now granted, an entry-level iPad is like $350 + $100 Apple Pencil, and this is $650, so you're paying for it. However, this tablet is better in other ways.
Namely, gaming performance. This tablet will run PS2 games at full speed. Not all of them, but most of them. For years that was impossible on mobile devices. Not only that, but it has the performance to run many PS2 games at irresponsibly high resolutions like 5x native, and the 120hz screen removes input lag normally caused by deinterlacing. This tablet is an emulation monster.
Build quality is excellent and it's very compact and modern, but I'm never going to use a $650 device without a case and a screen protector anyway.
So I think if you want to do digital art or emulation... This tablet is one of the best you can get.
One point where I docked points and disagree with many other reviewers, is the battery life. Battery life is not bad at all, but it's not the "8 hours screen time" that people say. Maybe 6 hours of real use. Which is enough, but not great. I think this is largely because the battery life is HEAVILY linked to screen brightness. By default the screen brightness appears to be about 20%, and turning it above that shortens the battery life aggressively. I think because the screen is so high resolution, and at such a high refresh rate, it takes a disproportionate toll on the battery compared to other devices.
I have had many Samsung devices. This one has a great sound. It has wonderful color. The speed is good for a tablet. I was disappointed that there really wasn't much difference over the years. I expected much larger storage for the unit. It is still pretty good device. It Runs apps well, I believe it has great potential.
I moved from Samsung Tab S3 to S8, and android has obviously moved on. Struggled a bit to get things going. Display is not what I expected, but again that could be a setting that I have not found yet. There is no user manual, and difficult to find on internet. Delivery to South Africa was flawless. Very happy. Can recommend.
